FDA Recalls Toothpaste Made in China

Comments Off

Testing has revealed that some toothpaste made in China contains the harmful ingredient diethylene glycol. The FDA has issued a product recall for all toothpaste made in China. Diethylene glycol is found in anti-freeze and can cause kidney and liver damage.

The agency is warning consumers to avoid using tubes of toothpaste labeled as made in China and, through an import alert, is stopping all suspect toothpaste from entering the United States. The FDA continues to investigate this problem and will take further action, as appropriate, to address this important public safety issue.

The recall affects the brands made by several different companies as well as a counterfeit version of Colgate. If you have a toothpaste that is marked “Made in China” it is recommended that you stop using it and return it for a refund.
